Northern California weekend.
Friday:
Mexican Lucha Libre wrestling and burlesque at the Fillmore in SF. This was an event for all the hipsters who have secretly wanted to go to wrestling for years but were either afraid or too twee to manage it. Throw in male burlesque on a pogo stick, a number of skilled young ladies and a grand variety of wrestlers including older women and little people, all MC'd by two gents, one of whom is the voice talent for Sponge Bob, and you have the perfect Friday night. Sexo Y Violencia!
Saturday:
A bluegrass/jam band performs Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety while dressed up in Wizard of Oz drag and with the film in the background. Audience full of Dorothys and yet more little people. Poor Man's Whiskey: http://www.poormanswhiskey.com/
Sunday:
Wine tasting at five top end Dry Creek wineries (Mazzocco Maple Zin is the nectar of the gods) followed by a walk, a nice long nap and then a fantastic dinner with yet more wines to taste. Truly decadent.
This is why I could not attend college in Northern California, nor do I live there full time. Even with the Dead no longer touring.
Finbar's perch
A sweet and naive Nome boy is thrust into the dark, tumultuous underbelly of South Island, New Zealand.
